PARTLY OPEN

Whiteshell Provincial Park

Updated: Feb 16, 2012

The main snowmobile trail (from Falcon Lake to Seven Sisters via Rennie) and the Rennie-Elma trail are open and have been groomed this week. The trails to Beauchemin Lake and Big Whiteshell Lake are also open, however, there are some sections along these trails that have not been groomed this week due to mild temperatures and insufficient snow cover.

The Otter Falls Access Loop has re-opened, however construction crews continue to work adjacent to the trail section paralleling PR #307. Please use caution when travelling in this area, watch for equipment and work crews, observe signs and reduce speed. All remaining trails in the South Whiteshell remain closed due to insufficient snow cover. (The closed trails include Falcon Lake to High Lake, Falcon Lake to West Hawk Lake, West Hawk Lake to Caddy Lake and Caddy Lake to Star Lake.)

Notables: Due to insufficient snow cover, there are exposed rocks, sticks and bare patches along all trails. Slush conditions have formed on some trails and lakes due to the recent mild weather. Ice ridges also exist on lakes across the park. Please follow designated lake crossing routes, observe signs, and travel at reducedspeeds and exercise caution at all times on all trails and lakes. Please watch for grooming equipment along all trails and remember that this equipment and work crews may be present at any time of the day or night.
