Snoman AGM & 8th Annual Congress

On November 2, 2018 Snoman held its annual meeting in Winnipeg with numerous clubs in attendance. The organization is pleased to announce that Alan Butler will serve as president, Wayne Vandersteen as vice president, Albert Wyborn as treasurer and Ernie Smelski as past president for 2018-2019.
On November 3, 2018 the 8th Annual Congress and Awards Banquet took place with over 200 people in attendance. During the day workshops were held focusing on snowmobile safety, Solara, club presidents, trail signing, facebook and Map Gears. The Snoman Snow Scooters Youth Club hosted a fun session in the afternoon which included a scavenger hunt.
The awards banquet was held on Saturday evening which allows Snoman to recognize the dedication of volunteers and businesses. The following awards were presented: Outstanding Snowmobiler went to Mark Zimmerman of the Interlake Snow Trackers, Outstanding Snowmobile Dealership was awarded to Chudd’s Powersports of Gimli, Outstanding Club went to Thompson Trail Breakers, Groomer Operator went to Nick Smook of the Thompson Trail Breakers, Non-snowmobile related business was awarded to the Westwood Inn in Swan River, and Outstanding Youth went to Alec Bruneau of the Snoman Snow Scooters. There were also two National Awards presented: Outstanding Groomer Operator to Jim Cottingham of the Snowtraxx Snowmobile Club and Outstanding Support by Non-snowmobile related business to Mid-Plains Implements in Carberry.
The Snoman $2,000 scholarship was awarded to Rory Campbell of the Swan Valley Snowmobile Association.
During the banquet Stars launched its Rescue on the Island for 2019 and Alan Butler, President will be a participant raising funds for Stars. Thank you to all who donated prizes for the raffle and silent auction. Snoman appreciates all those who purchased 50/50 tickets with proceeds going to Stars and a special thank you to winner Glen Ell who donated his 50% to Stars for a total donation of $1,480. A fun evening concluded with magician Alex Jay Hamm entertaining the attendees with his magic.
